NEW YORK
The Surrey
Echoing the heritage of the Upper East Side, The Surrey combines Art Deco with contemporary design to offer timeless elegance.
Originally built in 1926, The Surrey has long stood as one of the great addresses of the Upper East Side, renowned for its refined character and quiet sophistication.
Reopening in 2024 as Corinthia Hotels’ first property in the US, the hotel enters a new chapter, its design thoughtfully reimagined to reflect both its storied past and the spirit of modern New York.
MBDS reimagines the hotel’s rooms, suites, spa, and public areas, bringing a layered and nuanced approach to the interiors. Sumptuous materials and finely crafted details honour the building’s heritage while introducing a fresh, modern expression.

The Surrey’s interiors strike a careful balance between a welcoming, residential spirit and a reverence for the building’s architectural heritage. At its core is the idea of ‘sublime comfort’, a design philosophy that creates a sense of ease and belonging for every guest.
History and modernity converge to shape a distinct expression of luxury, one that reflects the Corinthia ethos while capturing the Upper East Side’s refined charm.
Through a blend of rich materials and a contemporary classic layered style, the hotel has an atmosphere that feels both refined and residential.

The hotel’s four signature suites are inspired by the bridges of nearby Central Park.
Each suite features bespoke crown mouldings that echo the character of a different bridge, paired with hand-painted illustrations inside the armoire, creating a dialogue between craftsmanship and place.
The Surrey Spa is a serene retreat wrapped in marble, where soft curves and a warm, neutral palette create an enveloping sense of calm.
Designed to echo Corinthia’s world-renowned approach to wellness, the space invites guests to pause, restore, and emerge renewed - a quiet counterpoint to the energy of the Upper East Side.
